CHLOROPLAST

Chloroplast are green organelles. They are oval or dislike in shape and can be found anywhere in the cytoplasm. The chloroplasts are a sort of biochemical opposite to the mitochondria. Instead of burning food to release energy and carbon dioxide, chloroplasts use carbon dioxide and energy (from sunlight) to build up sugars and other food molecules. This process, called photosynthesis, releases oxygen as a by-product.
